Hug A Tree Exercise

In our classroom discussion I brought up the technique of hugging a tree to help find Unity Consciousness.  This is a fun little exercise I stumbled across in my youth.  I was having a hard day and was out climbing in my favorite tree and realized that I needed a hug.  As there was no one around I hugged the tree.  And to my surprise, it felt as if the tree was hugging me back and I felt much better.  No, I had not read the giving tree by Shel Silverstein at this point in my life.  Later in my youth I did and have loved the book.  But back to  the exercise.

Try it yourself, have a patient try it, you might like it, you might find it strange to you, you might like it better if you think know one is watching. ;)  But it is fun to try and while people may not get it at first, I have, so far, had 100% success rate with this technique and feeling the energy of ???   Ah ha... Only you can answer this.  (Warning) It may not work the first time and it may take some time before someone understands it,  patient and open mindedness are the keys.

How it works... All you have to do is sincerely hug a tree.  It works best if you first find a tree that you are drawn too or feel connected to and then sincerely give it a loving hug.  In this moment just open up and give a good loving hug.  That is it.  Afterwards it is good to reflect on how it felt and made you feel.  Please remember that sometimes it takes longer to realize how being a literal tree hugger made you feel ??? Ah ha... got you again. :) Only you can answer this. This being: felt what.

Please try it and post you response to what you got out of it.  I would love to hear.  Even if it is nothing for now and you do not think it helped you at all. ;)

  1. You seem to really be catching the grasp of these exercises. I must say I enjoy them only to get frustrated when trying to respond to others' blogs. I find myself utilizing these tecehniques frequently when it comes to commenting on these blogs. Excellent post though.
